Mind Switch Therapies

About Me

Hi, my name is Suzannah Leighton and I qualified as a Hypnotherapist/Analyst over 20 years ago. I then trained as a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic programming with Dr. Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna and Michael Breen. I have always kept up to date with training and developing new skills. I have also qualified as an Integral Eye Movement Therapy Practitioner which is an amazing technique for any therapists tool box. I am passionate about the results these techniques can achieve for people, having worked with thousands of clients over the past 20 years from all walks of life and witnessed many a transformation. I run a private practice in Somerset where I see clients in person but also offer remote video sessions. I enjoy my private practice and love seeing clients make positive change in their lives. I live on the Levels in Somerset, near Glastonbury along with my family, 5 horses, 4 dogs and a parrot. One day whilst working in my office with an ex military gentleman who was suffering with PTSD I decided to take him out to meet the horses. I was amazed at the positive impact the horses had on him. I have always been aware that horses can have a beneficial healing effect on people but this was extraordinary. I decided to explore further and went on to train in Equine Facilitated Learning/Therapy. We now offer this at Horse Haven Uk alongside conventional therapy or as an alternative for those that prefer to be outdoors rather than in an office.

Most recently I developed Haven Hypnotherapy Academy to share my many years of experience and train others to become certified hypnotherapists so they too can enjoy a fulfilling career helping others.

What Hypnosis is

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state that we enter regularly without even knowing. Here are some common examples of times where we often experience hypnosis:
Daydreaming
Have you ever drifted off in a daydream where you’re no longer in your current, physical setting?
Absorption in TV
Ever watched TV and been so absorbed that you didn’t notice someone come into the room?
Engrossed in a book
If you’ve ever been totally engrossed in a book to the point of forgetting the time?
Driving a familiar route
Arrived at your destination and can’t recall much (if anything) of the journey?

As you can see from each of these examples, hypnosis is a perfectly safe relaxed state of total focus. In a therapeutic sense, it is a tool that allows the hypnotherapist to offer positive suggestions directly through your subconscious mind, bypassing the cognitive thought processes in order to bring about beneficial change for you.

The hypnotic state is very relaxing, safe and comfortable but you can come out of it at any time you choose and return to your normal state of awareness.

What Hypnosis
is not

It’s important to separate fact from fiction when it comes to hypnosis. Due to it’s ability to deliver fast, lasting results, hypnosis has often been portrayed as something magical or mystical – which is simply untrue.  Stage hypnosis is for entertainment and depends on volunteers. generally for comedy. Hypnosis used in a therapy situation is completely different. The client is always in control, aware and able to come out of the hypnotic state at any time.

Mind Control

Some people believe that the hypnotist has some sort of power over them and can make them do things they wouldn’t normally do. Hypnosis is  achieved through relaxation, focus and the client is always in control.

State of sleep
Hypnosis is not a state of sleep nor is it always eyes closed. As mentioned in the ‘What hypnosis is’ section, we often enter a hypnotic state in situations where it’s necessary to have our eyes open – such as driving or reading.
Lying down with a watch
It is not watching a swinging watch or spending long periods of time lying on a couch baring your soul. Hypnosis can be achieved through a range of methods – applicable to the situation and your own needs.
Embarrassing
With content-free techniques you need not reveal anything you consider embarrassing and even content-relevant techniques are handled in a non-judgmental, confidential manner.

Benefits Of Hypnosis

Fast Results
Typically hypnosis delivers fast, long-lasting results when delivered effectively.
Content Free
In cases where it’s uncomfortable to talk about specifics, hypnosis  provides techniques that allows a hypnotherapist to deliver a positive outcome without knowing the exact details.
Modern
Whilst hypnosis has been utilized for centuries, it’s popularity is growing in the modern-age as is the understanding and acceptance of it as a therapeutic tool.
Safe & Non-invasive
Hypnosis is a totally natural state your body is completely used to. It is safe, comfortable and effective.

TESTIMONIALS

  • I had one session of hypnosis and kinetic shift and I am totally amazed. Distressing feeling, I had held on to for years. I cannot find the negative emotional feeling at all. Unfortunately, due to me breaking my foot I haven’t been able to go back for more sessions. I will be back as soon as I can though. Suzannah is brilliant and I feel so very lucky to have her in my life. Would definitely recommend this. Xx. Claire Brown

  • Well you cured me Suzy good and proper. I can even have a conversation with a spider i.e. do you want to live here with me or do you wish to be put outside. They always opt to keep me company. Thank you so much. I used to feel physically sick if I saw a spider, my heart would race, I would freeze then be ill. It’s a wonderful thing you do. Megan Jones

  • Thank you so much for what you have done I don’t know how you’ve done it but I’m 100% feeling ready for anything I will keep in contact x Kylan
