What is Anxiety?
What is Anxiety?
There are many forms of anxiety. Social anxiety is exactly what it says, an anxious feeling in a social situation. Some people with anxiety build a “what if” scenario in their heads. They will imagine situations, amplify them in their mind. Then the anxious feelings run riot and the situation in their mind becomes real to them. Anxiety around a test or exam can cause people to freeze and to forget what they have learned. Then the fear and anxiety increases. What is the fear? Fear of getting it wrong, fear of not being accepted by others, fear of not being good enough. I guess the possibilities are endless. How crippling that anxiety must feel. It stops people doing things they want to do, just in case. What if that same imagination could be used to create a positive outcome. To present limitless possibilities, to achieve success and acceptance. It is the same imagination that created the negatives. Now, what if that same, powerful imagination could build brilliant scenarios in your mind with excellent outcomes? Imagine walking into a room, walking tall with your head held high and a smile on your face. Notice others around you, notice their reaction to you, friendly and welcoming. Before long you are chatting and mingling feeling amazing. Imagine going for your driving test or such like, pretend you have already passed. Notice your feelings, that upbeat proud feeling of having achieved. Notice how you stand, your body posture and the happy relaxed look on your face. The possibilities are only restricted by your imagination. Give it a go and see what happens.
